Sunflower Wax

Sunflower Wax

Sunflower Wax (Helianthus Annus)

Dealing with dry noses on dogs can be frustrating, especially when it’s clear that it is bothering him or her. When a dog doesn’t get the right level of fatty acids, which they can’t produce on their own and only gain it by getting it in their diet, or topically, it can increase the risk of dry and cracked nose.

Natural dog products are usually the best at helping to promote healing and sunflower wax is an active ingredient in some of these products, including Snout Shine.

Why Use Sunflower Wax for Dogs

Sunflower wax is made from sunflower oil that is winterized and Ecocert Certified, meaning it is certified organic. It contains a high quantity of fatty acids, both monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. It also contains long chain saturated esters, an organic compound that has replaced the hydrogen content. This means it can be extremely beneficial for skin health for dogs.

By relying on sunflower wax as a part of natural dog products like a snout cream or shine, it helps to add stability to the overall product.

Essential Properties of Sunflower Wax

Sunflower wax is mainly a triglyceride and contains a number of fatty acids. It is mainly comprised of the following:

  • Palmitic acid
  • Stearic acid
  • Oleic acid (omega-9)
  • Linoleic acid (omega-6)

There are several different types of sunflower oils that are produced. They can either be high in linoleic acid, high in oleic acid, or mid oleic.

Sunflower wax also contains high quantities of vitamin E, which help to fight free radicals in the skin which can lead to dry skin and other skin related conditions.

For anyone worried about dry noses on dogs and who are seeking natural dog products, sunflower wax helps to improve the quality and durability of the product.
