Ingredient: Kukui Nut Oil

Kukui Nut Oil

Kukui nut oil, or kukui oil, is also referred to by another name: candlenut oil. It is derived from the candlenut, or kuku’i. It is a light yellow oil that has a slight amber tint to it and can have a shelf life of about six months or longer, depending on the processing procedure.

It is used mostly for skin care products and is considered an emollient, which essentially aides in smoothing out skin. It can also be highly effective as a dry dog snout treatment.

Why Use Kukui Oil for Dogs

Because of its strong emollient properties, that makes kukui oil a great additive for any solution aimed at being a dry snout remedy. Many dogs are exposed to increased risk of having a dry and cracked snout. When they do, they will need some type of dry dog nose treatment as a way to bring relief and healing.

Because of the chemical composition of kukui oil, it contains a number of fatty acids that dogs cannot produce on their own, therefore they need another source of this important nutrient.

Essential Properties of Kukui Oil

Kukui –or candlenut- oil contains oleic acid, linolenic acid, and linoleic acid. These are essential components in any type of dry snout remedy because of their ability to penetrate the skin.

Kukui oil basically acts as a natural sunscreen along with a moisturizer and also helps to deliver other essential ingredients deeper into the skin where they can be more effective at healing dry dog nose conditions.

Parts Used

The kukui nut goes through a crushing and refining process where it is broken down into an oil base and separated from other components of the nut. The resulting oil contains the powerful healing properties that can be so valuable to dogs who are dealing with dry, cracked, and even painful nose conditions.

Kukui oil is powerful for being able to penetrate into the deepest layers of the skin. It also helps to protect against environmental damage, including overexposure to the sun and those ultraviolet rays that can cause burns and other damage to a dog’s snout.

Certain skin conditions have been known to be healed through the use of kukui oil.
